Purple Earflap Hat

Another Finished Object! A purple earflap hat for my nephew. (Luckily, my sister agreed to sew on the button).

The inspiration was a hat from Elizabeth Zimmermann's Opinionated Knitter. I used Lion Brand Microspun, held double, knitted at 4.4 st/inch. I like the way the hat turned out (I would cast on differently next time), but the yarn was not a joy to work with. It had no elasticity and tangled alot. In fact, I cut this tangle out of the second skein because I lacked the patience to pick it apart inch-by-inch.

Still, the fabric is soft and smooth. Hopefully it will hold up well.
